First Landing Woodworks Opener Grilling

Whether you are in the workshop, home, or office, we take a certain satisfaction in the moment a beverage is opened.

First Landing Woodwork’s mission is to provide high–quality products that are made with pride in the United States of America. We feel there needs to be attention paid to the products we use and those products should not be disposable, yet a quality heirloom piece that will last generations.

We start with American-made 304 stainless steel and machine it to its functional form here in Hampton Roads, Virginia. The stainless steel is then tumble-finished to give it a superb patina.

The handle is made from American Black Walnut, hand selected from a family-run sawmill in Pennsylvania. Walnut is a very heavy, strong wood defined by its rich deep browns and beautiful figure. The lumber has natural color variation ranging from dark to lighter browns with white sapwood. Walnut has beautiful grain structure and is much sought after.

In addition to our signature Black Walnut handles we occasionally offer Maple, Bocote, Padauk and other hardwood handles.

The Guys Behind the Design

Philip Goold is a lifelong Virginia Beach resident and has a deep passion for woodworking.  His home is just three miles away from John Smith’s First Landing at Cape Henry. He started Philip Goold Furniture in 2009 incorporating live edge design in his work. When he is not building the next farmhouse table for a customer, he’s probably in the ocean chasing swells and riding waves in international surf contests laying down his signature smooth style.

Adam Roth was born in a small town outside Hershey, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Millersville University of Pennsylvania in 2002 with a B.S. in Technology Education Adam moved to Virginia Beach to pursue a teaching career in photography and graphic design.
